Okay, so, I’m gonna get real. And you may not like it. 🌍
Climate change is probably the most important topic right now. 🌍
I'm not saying that other social justice issues are not important. They so are.
BUT
Without this wonderful blue Ball we live on, none of that matters. 🌍
Thankfully, my employer generously allowed any who wanted to join the march today. To do so. #mycompanyrocks
🌍
Here's the thing. And I know climate change is a political issue. And needs systematic change and requires ALL of us to speak up and take action. 🌍
BUT
🌍
Today's rally in Toronto was so overtly political that I cringed more than once.
🌍
Listen, people were there to march and show solidarity around the changes that need to happen NOT to listen to political pitches. 🌍
The organizers took it to a level that was so unexpected that a large majority of the crowd left the rally and started marching on their own. By 12:30 they were Still calling out for people to watch the rally and not march. 🤦♀️ (the march was supposed to start at 12) 🌍
It's disappointing that a cause that needs the purest intentions was used to further political agendas. 🌍
It was refreshing to see people take matters into their own hands and start the march sans organizers. They knew what they were there for, and made it happen. 🌍
I want to leave you with this: fight for causes you believe in and don't be swayed by other agendas and the static they cause.

But this isn't just a problem for the #G7nations this needs to be a conscious global effort. And right now, it's not. ·

🌲go to @rainforestalliance and #donate - your funds will go to the front line fighters and indigenous communities being affected ·
🚫🐄 stop eating beef - for all intents and purposes what is happening is likely due to deforestation and Bolsanaro allowing farmers to burn ecosystems to make room for larger cow factories/field. ·

🗳 vote for officials in your local and federal elections that take a hard stance on climate change, because without the right leaders, our world will continue to burn

And finally, if you want something tangible, plant some trees. It's not going to solve the problem, but it can't hurt.
